Who is Jesus? How can I get to know God? What is Christianity? These are questions that can take time to answer. We discuss these topics every time that we meet. This page is here to address some of the basics.
At Zombie Church We love Zombie movies. In some Zombie movies survivors try to destroy every Zombie in sight. In others they try and find a cure. It’s not that often that a Zombie just snaps out of it or gets better on their own. The point is that Zombies have a serious condition that they can’t get themselves out of.
In real life we also have a serious problem. The Bible teaches that everyone is born with a serious Zombie-like condition. It’s called sin. Sin is what keeps us wandering through life like Zombies. Without God’s help we are doomed to go through life unable to cure ourselves. Sin is what separates us from having a relationship with God. God is perfect, and he must judge sin, very much like a good judge in a courtroom must pass down good and true judgment in order to do their job well. We have all done wrong and can’t meet God’s standard, perfection. The punishment for our wrong doing is separation from God. None of us is capable of escaping our wrong doing, that is until…
God made a cure. He made a way to save us from our Zombie-like condition. He sent His son, Jesus. Jesus lived a perfect life. He paid the cost for our sins, taking our punishment when he was crucified (a very brutal way to die) about 2000 years ago. The Bible says that if we turn from our sin and place our faith in Jesus Christ, then our sins will be forgiven and we can be free from our Zombie curse.
Is salvation really that simple?
Salvation really is that simple. Once you place faith in Jesus Christ for salvation you are freed from the Zombie curse. The problem is that we still live in a Zombie apocalypse-like world. There are lost people, just like Zombies (those that haven’t put their faith in Jesus), seeking their own desires. Survivors (Christians) still make mistakes and bad choices as they live in a torn and fallen world. Sometimes old Zombie behaviors are hard to break.
The good news is that as survivors we have a chance to make a difference, pointing people to Jesus Christ. If we spend time with God through prayer, reading the Bible, and through hanging out with other survivors, he is true to his word and will take care of us. The Bible doesn’t promise that we won’t have problems in the apocalypse. It promises that God himself will walk with us when problems come up.
“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” John 16:33, NLT
I put my hope in Jesus and asked for him to forgive my sins, now what?
Some of your first steps as a new survivor (Christian) are shown here.
1. Read your Bible every day.
The Bible tells us how to live as survivors in a fallen world. It’s important that you have a Bible that you understand. If aren’t sure which version of the Bible might be best for you or where to start, contact us and we’d love to help you get started.
2. Pray – talk to God.
Praying is as simple as talking to God. You can pray out loud or in your head. You can pray by yourself or with other survivors. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says “pray continually.” Prayer is the way that we let God know what we are feeling, a way to thank Him, and a way to ask for help for yourself and for others.
3. Spend time with other survivors.
4. Go to Church.
